Tooth Removal · Extractions

When a tooth can't be saved, we say so gently.

We are a save-first practice — extraction is our last answer, never our default. When a tooth truly can't be rebuilt, we explain why in plain terms and plan what comes next before it comes out.

Back to everyday life.

How we think about extractions

Every tooth gets a fair hearing first — and when removal is the right answer, we do it carefully, with the next step already planned.

Save first, whenever possible

Before anyone talks about removing a tooth, we weigh every reasonable way to keep it — laser perio therapy and restorative repairs come first, whenever possible.

Told elsewhere that a tooth has to go? Second opinions are welcome here, with no awkwardness.

When extraction is the right answer

Some teeth are simply too broken or too diseased to rebuild, and keeping them can do more harm than good. When that's the case, we show you what we see and explain why in plain terms.

You'll understand the reasoning before you decide anything. No rush, no pressure.

A careful, unhurried visit

The appointment itself is deliberate and calm. We numb thoroughly, confirm you're comfortable, and tell you what to expect at each stage — you're never left guessing.

The next step comes first

We plan the extraction around what follows it — sometimes an implant, sometimes a bridge, sometimes nothing yet. Every mouth is different.

Whatever the options are, we lay them out before the tooth comes out, so nothing is decided by default.

Honest about our limits

Dr. Oh is a general dentist, and some cases — complex impactions, for example — belong with an oral surgeon. When that's true, we say so and refer you to someone we trust.

Other options weighed first
Laser perio and restorative options are weighed before extraction enters the conversation.
Plain-language explanations
You'll see what we see and hear the reasoning in everyday words — the decision is yours.
Replacement options on the table
Implant, bridge, or nothing yet — the options are on the table before the tooth comes out.
Honest referrals
When a case calls for an oral surgeon, we say so plainly and send you to a specialist we trust.

Common questions

Do you try to save the tooth first?
Yes — whenever a tooth can reasonably be kept. Laser perio therapy and restorative repairs come first whenever possible; extraction is recommended only once saving the tooth is no longer realistic.
Does getting a tooth pulled hurt?
Honestly: you should feel pressure, but sharp pain is not part of the plan. We numb thoroughly and check in with you throughout.
What should I do afterward?
Rest, protect the area, and follow the written instructions we send home with you. Every mouth heals on its own schedule — we're a phone call away if anything feels off.
Do I have to replace the tooth?
It depends on the tooth and your bite — some gaps matter more than others. We lay out the options honestly, with no pressure either way.

Your visit, step by step

A careful decision, then a careful procedure.

STEP 01

Look at it together

We examine the tooth, show you what we see, and weigh every way to save it first. Extraction comes up only once nothing else is realistic.

STEP 02

Plan what comes next

We settle the replacement plan before the tooth comes out, referrals included.

STEP 03

An unhurried removal

The area is numbed thoroughly and checked before we begin. We work gently, tell you what to expect, and take our time.

STEP 04

Heal, then follow through

You leave with written aftercare instructions and a direct line to us. We revisit the next-step plan when you're ready.
