General Dentist

Dr. Eric Oh

A dentist who takes his time. On purpose.

Dr. Eric Oh believes the best dentistry starts with a conversation, not a drill. He built Sora around unhurried visits, plain answers, and treatment plans he would accept for his own family.

The person behind the practice

Dr. Oh is a general dentist who would rather know you well than treat you fast.

Where he started

Dr. Oh grew up in Plainsboro, New Jersey, and went on to study biology at Cornell University, graduating in 2009. He earned a Master of Science at UMDNJ — now part of Rutgers — in 2011, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the NYU College of Dentistry in 2015. He then completed a one-year general practice residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in 2016, and has been practicing ever since.

Why general dentistry

What kept him in general dentistry, he'll tell you, is the long view — caring for the same people across decades rather than just fixing the tooth in front of him.

But the work itself is what makes it unlike anything else. There is real creativity and real engineering in every piece of dentistry: designing something that has to fit one person, stand up to daily use, and last. Watching that work take care of someone year after year is the part he finds most rewarding.

Still a student

He never stopped studying, either. Dr. Oh holds fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI). He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and a LANAP clinician — more on what those mean in the questions below.

Life outside the operatory

Away from the office, Dr. Oh spends his time with his wife and son, who loves soccer and tennis. He's a sports fan himself — the Giants, the Knicks, and every World Cup — and fills the rest of his free time with reading and finding new restaurants and places to explore.

Why the name

Sora is Japanese for sky — a promise about how the place should feel: open, calm, and honest.

It has a second sense, too. Sora de means by heart: knowing something so well you don't need to look. That's how we want to know you and your history, visit after visit.

What that means for your visits

Honest plans, nothing extra
Dr. Oh recommends only what he'd recommend to his own family. If something can wait, he says so — and watches it with you.
Visits that don't feel rushed
Appointments are scheduled with room to breathe, so the visit is about you — not the clock.
You'll see what he sees
Photos and scans go up on the screen, in plain language. You leave understanding your own mouth — and every option on the table.
Training beyond the degree
FAGD, FICOI, and laser dentistry fellowships mean hundreds of hours of study past dental school, applied quietly to your care.
A dentist who knows your history
You see Dr. Oh at your visits, so your care builds on what he already knows about you.

Tami

Tami, Patient Coordinator

Tami has been part of the dental world since she had braces. It fascinated her at a young age, and at 16 she started sterilizing instruments for her orthodontist. She went on to become a registered dental assistant, and a few years later, when the front desk needed help, she was up for the challenge. She never left, and she enjoys helping and talking with patients at the front desk.

In her spare time, Tami likes to travel, cheer on the Buffalo Bills, and find new and interesting restaurants. She looks forward to speaking with you soon!

Your visit, step by step

Four unhurried steps, from first call to a plan you chose.

STEP 01

Give us a call

Call (973) 808-4373 with your name and what you need. During office hours, a real person from our front desk answers to find a time that works — no hold music, no phone tree.

STEP 02

Sit down and talk first

Your first visit starts in conversation, not in a chair tipped back. Dr. Oh asks what's bothering you, what you've been through, and what you actually want.

STEP 03

A thorough, visible exam

Digital imaging and a careful look at teeth, gums, and bite — with everything shown to you on screen as he goes, explained in words you'd use yourself.

STEP 04

Decide together

You get the full picture: what's urgent, what can wait, and what each path involves. The plan is yours to choose — we book only what you're ready for.
